I'm having trouble installing ScoutCount. What is the default Username and Password? Why can't I select a Parent Unit for my Section? Why aren't there any Religions in the drop down list? Why does it not let me print an Index Card (Class not registered error)? I've found a bug! I want to write my own reports... (or just access the core data) I've got data in ScoutCount I...
I'm having trouble installing ScoutCount. The installation sets on this site are designed to work, and have been tested with, Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000 and XP. No other version of Windows have been tested. In the event of any installation problems, please email support@henleysoftware.co.uk for help and advice. Please note that we will not be able to assist if you do not have administrative access to your computer, especially under Windows 2000 and Windows XP. What is the default Username
and Password?
Once installed, the default user name and password are as follows:
The Parent Unit section has been moved to a seperate
form. Clicking on the ellipsis button (...) will bring up an emtpy
list. To select your parent unit, simply type in the first few
characters of the parent unit name (or it's number e.g. 100th, or it's
area e.g. Reading). You'll then be presented with a list of matching
Parent units - select the one that matches your parent unit. If your
parent unit isn't in the list please let us know at support@henleysoftware.co.uk
(but first try a few different combinations!).
The Religions drop down list contains all the Religions that
you have put into the database so far. We steered away from
providing a list as this would prove too restrictive for the users.
Once you have started entering data you'll find you can pick an existing
religion from the list (this avoids problems with having Church of England
spelt six different ways, for instance).
If you don't have the MDAC 2.0 libraries installed you might
not be able to print the index card report, although everything else will
work(!) To fix this, download and install the MDAC_TYP file from the
Downloads page and this should solve the problem. Whilst ScoutCount II has been through a thorough testing
process, we can't pick up everything! If you have been presented
with a page asking you to submit a bug via email please send the bug
through to us. If you can include as much information about what you
were trying to do, and also what operating system you are on, we'll be
able to process it for you and hopefully provide a fix.
Unlike ScoutCount I, the database
behind the scenes is secured in a work group for Scout Count II.
Please do *NOT* make any changes to table structures within either of the
two database files, and please do not touch SC_Template.mdb (the blank
template database). We are unable to provide any support for people
modifying the data structures or writing their own support, our support
extends only to providing help in linking into the database files
initially. HSL can provide chargeable support for any reports
required, but this would be discussed on an individual basis. In order to open the database
files in Microsoft Access you will need to tell Access to use the
SCII.mdw workgroup file. This is installed into the application directory
by default, and can you can tell Access to use this file either by using
the Access WorkGroup Admin tool (either in the Office directory, or in the
Security Menu on Access XP), or by creating a shortcut with a /wrkgrp
parameter. (The shortcut will need to run Access and point to both
the database file you require with a /wrkgrp parameter pointing to the
scii.mdw file). Once you are linked into the workgroup (via either
method) all of your ScoutCount II usernames and password will
work. |

I've got data in ScoutCount
I...
Unfortunately due to both design flaws in ScoutCount I and due to the complex nature of the data model in ScoutCount II there is no data upgrade path between the two versions. If you have the time (and know Access) you can transfer a significant portion of the data across manually, however we are unable to provide any assistance with this without incurring cost.
This decision was taken by The Scout Association, not by HSL.
